Classification: FMOS
Category: System Configuration Issue
Context: Warning
Summary
The system is currently in maintenance mode.
Description
Maintenance mode is a feature of FMOS that administrators can use to prepare a system for regular maintenance, updates, or troubleshooting. When this mode is activated, FireMon Security Manager services are stopped.
Impact
When in maintenance mode, FireMon Security Manager services are not running. This means the application will not be accessible to users and other services.
If the machine holds the Data Collector role, log messages sent from monitored devices and management stations will not be received, and scheduled configuration retrievals will not be performed.
If the machine holds the Application Server role, and no other machines in the ecosytsem hold this role, then scheduled reports and assessments will not run, and users will not be able to access the Security Mangaer user interface applications or REST API.
If the machine holds the Database role, and is currently designated as the primary database server, all Security Manager functionality will be unavailable and backups will be unsuccessful.
Cause
To enter maintenance mode, the fmos maintenance begin command is used.
Resolution
To return the machine to normal operation, either issue the fmos maintenance end command, or reboot the machine.
