Classification: Application
Category: System service problem
Context: GlusterFS
Severity: Error
Summary
The glusterd service is not running because it has crashed.
Description
The glusterd service is part of the FireMon Security Intelligence Platform Database Server (DB) role on machines operating in multi-database mode. It is responsible for managing the clustered filesystem. This error indicates that the service is not running because it has crashed.
Impact
If the glusterd service is not running, the clustered filesystem will not be able to operate correctly. When Security Manager makes changes to files on the shared filesystem, such as normalized device configuration files, these changes will not be replicated to this machine.
Cause
There are many reasons the glusterd service may have crashed. These range from system resource constraints (e.g. it was killed by the Out-of-Memory (OOM) killer or there was insufficient disk space) to network issues to internal software errors.
Resolution
Applying the FMOS Configuration Policy may resolve this issue. Use the fmos redeploy secmgr command to apply Configuration Policy for the Security Intelligence Platform (SIP). If any errors are reported, they will need to be addressed before the problem can be resolved.
